I'm not quite ready for a pitifully weak party but want to try a challenge. Let me know what other semi-weak ones you have tried. This one is at lev 1:
"The Claw" Felpur Samurai M "Skinka" Lizard Valkyrie F "Thoohah Mook Gadgeteer M "Thurmon" Human Psyionic M Haven't tried this kind of party, not sure how well they will survive the hard battles. Will let you know. This party has some balance, not sure how fast they will advance.

To me that's not even semi-weak.
Try a duo of Priest and Alchemist. |

True, but weak for my taste. I don't want to rely on potions and scrolls. Since I haven't really started yet, do you recommend a 2 or 3 paty instead of 4? I do like "some" balance. I have tried solo ninja and bishop/bard.

yah, the one i'd do would be without the Psionic.
In fact, i just finished a Valk-Sam-Bish, and a Gad would have been as much fun as a Bish. The biggest problem with the Psi is you'll be WAY behind in AC and HP. And not really all that ahead in Magic, if you consider you'll have 3 Chars instead of 4. |

I tried just 2 Bishops a week ago and gave up fast! They're just darn hard to build up.

yah, you gotta have the patience to practise enough. Solo Bishop is actually easier, since you only have to practise one Character.

As far as I can tell the psyionic is not very powerful. He will be the key. I want to explore psy because I think they are next to useless. I mean, how many enemies are susceptible to mind things? I guess I will find out. The others are not power figures too but respectable on damage. This is a compromise, I don't want a BIG challenge, just something new.

I think you may get a bit of a surprise on the Psi, particularly late in the game. Make sure you train powercast up and maybe give the Psi Nebdar's Amulet.
The Eye for an Eye spell is always nice, but in my all caster party my Psi was one of the only members, (had 2 Alchemists, 1 Mage, and 2 Priests), whose magic did punch through those high resists on the Peak. The Furor dances a nice little jig, even though it jars your teeth.

Perhaps you can take a Monk instead of a pure spellcaster. He has the psionic spellbook and very good fighting abilities...and your party will be more balanced because i thnk it's more difficult to protect pure spellcaster in a 4 party. I currently play a 4 party of ninja/monk/samuri/gadgeeter which is not bad at all.

well, once you get the bonus going, and Powercast, a pure Psi has a lot more magic power than a Monk, esp as they haven't had to waste all those Attribute points at the start. If you're lucky you can also get a Helm of Insight fairly early, that adds 10% (useless if you get to max, but until then...) Great Char for Doom, too...those big Death Clouds are a so much fun, i'm constantly heading back to the nearest Merchant to get it recharged.
