When I cast missile shield or magic screen, the strongest I can make them are level 7. Are they 'stackable', ie I could cast another on top and have more protection? Or is this the best I can do forevermore?

Thanks

All protection spells have their upper limit at LvL 7. A second spell replaces the first, so with a wizard you gain no additional power.
If you use gadgets or instruments, there is a chance to "create" or "play" a spell on a lower level than the first. So if you have a bard or gadgeteer in your party and they create a Lvl 7 spell , don't try it again. You may lose power or duration .

I don't think any spells in Wiz8 are stackable (on themselves anyway). You can't have 2 guardian angels.

EDIT - Oh wait, Knock Knock is (if cast by another character).

What's worse, a second Guardian Angel won't stick if there's a damaged one on you, so it's just a waste of time.

They last longer, but do not become more powerful. At least that's my experience with the original v1.0. Offensive spells, however, do become more powerful with high powercast ability.

Thanks . Bugger, I was hoping that this wouldn't be the final strength - quite a lot of stuff still gets through!

On a related note, I was in the swamp fighting the queen ant, whose green slime ammo she shoots can make people insane. If it gets past the missile shield, but I had a magic screen up (or an elemental shield? Is there a mental shield?), would that have a chance of blocking the insanity effect?

"Is there a mental shield?"

Magic Screen increases resistance to all realms. Souls Shield increases resistance to divine and mental realms. There are also items that increase resistances to different realms.

And Elemental Shield helps protect from poison, sleep and paralysis.

So those shields would protect me from ammunition that causes insanity for instance, not just spells, then.
