My character, Gildor Fairflight, kept getting attacked at the start of the game by people looking for a bounty. I put the sex-change girdle on him and the problem stopped. Was this clever or a coincidence?

Now that's one I haven't heard before! A foolproof disguise!

Nope, actually, there are more bounty hunters out there, and they have a bead on you that not even the best disguise could throw off: You've got a big red sign on your head that reads "I am the protagonist, the Player-Character. Please kill me."

And you thought your hike through the Sword Coast would be so peaceful, too. Those crickets were peaceful, weren't they? Why can't we just have woodland streams and crickets?

Don't forget the chirping birds, SixofSpades. Jaheira and Kivan like them.

These bounty hunters might be a little annoying in the beginning of the game but they are actually kind of fun. Especially after you kill them and get to read the little bounty notices that they carry. This aspect of Baldur's Gate is what separates itself from many other RPG games, the more you overcome the more powerful and important you feel.

Hehehe, Imoen was REALLY annoying me as a female so i turned her into a man with the gurdle. At least she doesnt whine as much now. I dont know WHY you would want to avoid the bounty hunters, they are fun. You walk into a bar and order a drink, next thing you know some guy wants to kill you for a measly 300 gold! I led one of them around in circles in a tavern for 3 minutes.
