These ooze things that you come across from time to time in bg2 and tob. I normally eventually beat them, but they always cause my party and me a lot of damage and trouble that seems far in excess of their xp.
I've tried sending in a fighter protected against poison and well buffed but something always knocks him over. Mages casting hand grenades (mmm) do reasonably well but eventually they take a good slap. In fact a couple of times the magic makes them spawn or has no effect. So my usual tactic is to hit them with a bit of everything and that usually does it. But it does not seem a *professional* way of killing what seems an easy opponent. Any overall tip or tactic or does it depend on which slime / ooze?

Certian slimes can shoot slime from a range but others cant so what i would do is stay back and keep casting magic and moving back, also back stab them while ther attenion is on something else like your mage. Arrows dont work so dont waste them. You dont need jut your mage to cast spells use your priest or paladin, ranger or druid.

Most slimes have high magic resistance though. The best way is to get an enchanted weapon that deals blunt damage. That should deal with most slimes pretty quikly. Quite a few posts have been written about this, I'd suggest using the search-button to look for related posts.
Hope it helpz

Check The Monstrous manual for tactics and sensitive spots of the Ooze's/Slime's/Jelly's, there are various of kinds of ooze's and such and all have different immunities and weapon resistances.

actally, they arent just high magic resistant, they are immune to magic. you can use this to your advantage if you have Polymorph Self spell, you can polymorph into one then make high lvl monsters waste all their magic on you.

I belive that only the from that you can polymorph into is 100% magic resistant. The ones that your going to be fighting have a lower magic resistance.

Thanks guys
I was looking for an overall one method kills all attack but obviously that is not possible. letting a skeleton or two do the work seems to be the best option.

from BG1 to ToB, Ive never found slimes to be much problem. I think I generally just tank-rush them.
