She was a newcomer, a female elf, skilled in the art of magic, who entered the lonely village of valeia late one night. No one knew who she was; she kept to herself and sought council with Gareth, the village elder. He had quite an important tale to tell, about ravens, dragons and a fabled blade: The Mavin Sword. He sent her off to search for this weapon, which he believed resided in the nearby crypt. She gathered what equipment she thought she needed, and she was off.

Shortly after leaving the town, she was hailed by a passing traveller, who appeared to have a very bad skin complaint. She was very wary of him and disclosed no information about Gareth to him, as she believed he had a hidden agenda.

She continued along the path, her coloured mage robes making a soft swishing noise as she walked. Before long, a group of three short humanoids approached her that she believed to be gnomes and started talking in a gutteral tongue. Sensing that these were no ordinary gnomes, she accessed her pool of magic powers.

The creatures were violent, and tried to cause her harm. One of the beings nocked an arrow to its bow, but before it let the arrow fly, it was slain by a blast of pure earthern magic. Another closed on her, attempting to bludgeon her with it's club. She swung her mighty staff and felled the evil beast. The remaining creature, feeling that he had chosen the wrong traveller to pick on tried to escape, but was clubbed over the back of it's head by the mage's weapon.

Looking at the carnage, Moiraine Sedai feared that more may appear soon, so she left the vicinity, but not before collecting the dead creatures equipment. What use do the dead have of gold?

Now she was especially wary, and walked slowly over to the entrance of the graveyard from where she could enter the crypt. She entered the graveyard, unaware of the skeleton rising up behind her. It struck her with it's damaged axe, and she was shocked to see undead; something was certainly going wrong here. In a short matter of time, the skeleton was slain, leaving behind it's skull. Fearing it to be a totem of evil, Moiraine Sedai decided against gathering it up.

Continuing through the graveyard, she had to defend herself against more undead. As the last of her opponents fell to the ground, the essence of whatever had animated it leaving it's now rotting corpse, Moiraine Sedai spotted what appeared to be a large building...the crypt! She strolled up to it, only to find it guarded by an undead necromancer and his cronies. Firing blasts of magic, the necromancers underlings were soon dispatched. Before he could summon more to his aid, Moiraine Sedai hit him with everything she had. A massive bolt made of purest flame streaked unneringly toward the undead mage.

With a smell of burning flesh and charcoal, the mage was destroyed. Her path now clear to the entrance, Moiraine Sedai had to search for a way in. The iron door was sealed, but judging by the footprints in the dust, it had been used recently. Surveying the building, she surmised that there must be some way of opening it nearby, as there was no visible hole for a key. Looking suspiciously at the statues beside the entrance she began to push and pull them. Finally, one gave way and with the sound of creaking, the great door opened.

Entering the crypt, Moiraine Sedai felt aware of another prescence. Descending into the darkness, she wondered what horrors might await her......

YAY!!!

I wonder how many other CRPGs have inspired so many to write stories about their characters.

Great stuff, Moiraine! I'm eagerly anticipating your next steps... and there's a drink in the Boogre Bar for you when you're ready.

Now, may the Gael Serran bring out the best in you as you enter the crypt...
