Re: Bioshock!
Try and avoid the Steam version if possible, there are multiple reports of the steam version not working at all, while a retail copy works perfectly on the same machine. Also, 2K put secuROM on the steam version as well, so theres no real point to it.
On the plus side, they've now increased the allowed activations to five machines. |

Re: Bioshock!
well I can't get it to go past where you go down in the bathesphere... as soon as it enters the building and tries to load the next level it crashes out.

Re: Bioshock!
Right click on the game in 'my games', properties, local files, verify integrity of game cache. It seems Steam was distributing corrupted files for a while - which should be impossible, but 2K have found so many ways to make this release difficult that one more shouldn't surprise anyone.

Re: Bioshock!
I did that last night and it checked out ok, I also reinstalled the VC support files... then when I tried it again it actually blue-screened my pc and rebooted.
Seems like this is the buggiest release I've seen in a while. |

Re: Bioshock!
Thoran, I've heard of that problem before from a few people in the Steam and 2k forums. Apparently, some of them were able to fix it by going into My Computer, properties, advanced, performance, settings, advanced, virtual memory, change, and setting the page file to 'system managed size'. On Windows XP, btw.

Re: Bioshock!
Thanks Jaradu... I'd given up on running it on that system and installed it on my laptop, it runs great on that. I'll go back and try the virtual memory fix to see if it helps.
