Let me get this straight.
The original NWN campaign and the expansion Campaigns are different stories altogether, right?

That's one of the many things that I didn't like about NWN. I wanted to continue as the Hero of Neverwinter, like you do in Baldurs Gate. That, and the expansions weren't that great.

Actually, the original OC is separate from the expansions, but the expansions are linked, Hordes continues the adventures of the Shadows' char anyway, hence Deekin.

Okay, got it.

I've gotten the hang of the game, so which shall be more fun to start with? The OC or SOU?

SOU is much better, but that might be a reason to play the OC first. That is because it might be hard to go back to the relatively weak OC after enjoying SOU-HotU.

If you never played NWN before at least *try out* the OC. It´s much easier with less *micro-management* and so this is a good way to train your *gaming skills* before things get tougher in the expansions.

Yeah, I totally agree. As much as I didn't really like the OC, I still played it through to get a feel for the engine, game mechanics etc. In a lot of ways, it is very different from other games that I have played. I then found online play, and have never looked back, except to play at least once through Shadows and Hordes, to get a feel for anything new they may have added.

Funny. I liked the OC best of the three myself. And I was also disappointed to learn that the three games are not really linked. Like Goulum, I was expecting to take my characters through a trilogy.

Fortunately, the vault has many community mods, some of which are very good, and are a series through which you can advance your characters.

Nightowl2,I also liked the OC and didn't have the issues some had with it, but I still preferred the expansions.

And D*Ranged, there are "Bridge" modules that you can download from the Bioware site that bridges where you left off in SoU and carries you over to HotU. See, your character will end around 12th level at the end of SoU but if you go directly to HotU it will automatically level you to 15. So Bioware had this contest to fan developers to make a module that picked up your character at 12th level and when you were done your experience had you at level 15. The winner and runner-up offerings were wonderfully done. I did the one made by Papermonk.
