Run it for a bit.. and watch the temps. a 6600 idles at 32-38c. its off-point is 63c

The core of the CPU can warp over time... or its probably just dying. The 6600 is a GREAT chip--and great to overclock. I ran one at 3.2 forever.

Yeah, I went through it for DAYS during the server crap out fest of 2009 and a few weeks ago. It SUCKS. I now really hate computers.

.. I love what they can be used for, but 'damn them to hell'.. as Charles says.... haha..

so Intel may warranty my old Q6600, I have to get them the numbers off the chip and see what happens.

in the meantime, since I now have working spare parts and my oldest needs a computer I'm looking at either going with the old q chip from intel: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id...es=SL9UM,SLACR

or doing a small upgrade to the q9400
