Well, OK, actually they CAN do this.

I just found out from my boss that our internet access is going to DRASTICALLY reduced and severely restricted within the next couple of weeks. I knew this was coming because we have some people abusing their internet access.

I work in a small hospital and we are owned by another rural hospital. The
Administration for both hospitals have decided that our internet access will be run through a single server for both places and will be monitored to track which sites we visit.

This has become necessary because part of the abuse going on is that some people have apparantly been downloading music onto their computers (which could cause a potential lawsuit for the hospital) and - of course - others are going into porno sites (stupid, idiotic numbnutts ).

Oh well, I fully understand and respect Administrations right to do this (and the necessity of doing it). Unfortunately, that means that I will be MUCH less visible on the boards in the near future. While I feel that Ironworks and other forums I visit are rather harmless, I doubt Administration will approve of me visiting during business hours (whether I'm on my lunch break or not).

Sooooo, my visits to this board will be even fewer and farther between than they are now. {sniff sniff}

Then again, the fact that I even started this topic kinda indicates that Administration has a legit argument.

Bummer man. Do you have a library close by, where you can access the internet? Good luck bro.

BTW, are you Cerek the Barbaric? If so, what happened to your name?

It's really not as bad as I'm making it out to be. I will still have internet access at work because I order some of our supplies online. I just doubt Ironworks will be allowed as an "approved site" for me to visit at work anymore. Which really isn't a bad thing, it just means that now I'll actually have to WORK while I'm at work.

I still have internet access at home and will be posting from there more often. But with 3 kids needing supper, homework and baths before bedtime - it's hard to get any time on the PC until AFTER they are asleep. By that time, I'm usually ready for bed myself.

In answer to your other question, the answer is "YES"...I am still Cerek, but no longer "Barbaric". I had requested the ID change a long time back (probably over a year ago), but never got an answer. Since changing an existing ID is a BIG hassle and a LOT of extra work for Ziroc, I just assumed the answer was "No" - but then I was recently asked if I still wanted to make the change. I decided I did and the Powers That Be were kind enough to do it even though they didn't have to.

That's nice of them. I asked the same thing a long time ago, but ohwell.

I notice a lot of people post at work, I mean...it's just not healthy for you guys! Get back to work

Only joking, it's a bit sad that these rules have to be put in place nowadays, but I'm sure they can't give you hastle for going on at lunchtimes...

Its not healthy to work 8 hours non-stop. Its why thy invented coffee breaks and lunch times. Whose to say that when you are surfing it is on 'company time' and contributing to lowered productivity? Whose to say that it isn't you relieving stress to make you a better and more productive employee during your designated break?

I liked Cerek the Barbaric better. He was a compassionate guy, but he carried a big axe.
