FYI Australia, from our distant corner of the world, is ready to provide any military support that may be requested. Australia fought in both World Wars, far from their borders, lost tens of thousands in Gallipoli in WW1 and in Africa in WW2, and also sent frigates to the Gulf War. ------------------ |

European and OTHER countries are helping the USA in this matter. I for one am not going to put a Qualifing amount on the help, and say that under this amount is not good enough. Any help is help! Thank you all for what ever you or your countries have done to help my countrymen, and country in this matter. John D. Just to reinforce my earlier comments.
Australia offers troops September 15, 2001 Posted: 3:47 PM HKT (0747 GMT) CANBERRA, Australia (CNN) -- Australia will follow the lead of the United States in the event of a retaliatory strike being made against terrorists or their sponsors. Prime Minister John Howard said on Friday Australian troops would serve under U.S. command in that eventuality. After a marathon cabinet meeting, Howard announced he had invoked Article 4 of the ANZUS treaty, a defense pact formed between Australia, New Zealand and the United States after WWII. This formally commits Australia to support its large partner in the event of a military response, according to the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper. It is the first time the treaty has been formally invoked. The decision was swift, Howard said, and was viewed by everyone in cabinet as the next logical step. He said the United States would command Australians involved. A statement from the White House press office in Washington noted the 50 years of the treaty and added: "Although our alliance with Australia was crafted under very different circumstances than exist now, the events of September 11, 2001 are a powerful reminder that the alliance and our shared commitments are no less valid today." ------------------ |

Of course, you have right to mourn. I just think it is unfair to be called selfish, ungratefull to USA and so on, just because I don't travell there and help rebuild WTC with my own hands. ------------------ We call him Bobby Corwen |

Memnoch, I didn't want to give the impression that I was leaving our "Little Brother" out. I was talking to Mom.

The tragedy that occurred on Tuesday in New York City and Washington DC was heartbreaking, senseless, and completely unjustified. It also is not the worst tragedy that has occurred.
I wonder how many of our British members are reminded of the Blitzkreig during the early years of World War II, when huge sections of London and the surrounding areas were devastated by the German bombers, and so many people lost their lives horribly? Where was America then? And yet, Britain is there, backing us 100% during this tragedy. I for one am honored for that support, as I and others are thankful for the support and caring shown to us by all our other global friends. Believe us: we appreciate any and all aid and support the rest of the world can give. Thank you for being there for us. ------------------ |

I'm drawing strength from the good wishes and sympathetic support voiced all over the world. The playing of our anthem in other countries, the outpouring of sorrow for the victim's families, the rescue workers, the nation as a whole. I'm crying as I type this. I've been doing so off and on since Tuesday. The enormity of the whole thing has been seeping into my conscious mind past all the barriers I wanted to keep up, to be able to 'be strong', but you know what? The obvious care and sympathy from all around the world, the little gestures of kindness and compassion from other countries, have all pushed those barriers away and I'm grieving in full now. So, to the rest of the world : You are appreciated, no matter what you offer or do. The support is welcome.
