How exactly does a any Portal in NWN work? Can you put them in the toolset to get get between your mods? I thought about doing something, where the PC visits a ruined castle, then finds a portal to go back in time to when it was still built. If I could do that, How do I make it so that the Portal is the only way to the mod?
Any help you can give would be great! also, please reply to my other posting! Sir Ryan Trawl [ 11-24-2002, 05:59 PM: Message edited by: Sir Ryan Trawl ]

There are ways to connect modules. Not sure exactly how though. Try looking at a module like the penultima series. It has a central hub that allows you to visit other mods. If the module you want to connect to isn't big you can export the areas as erf files then import them into the first module you want them connected to. That way the module will contain areas for two different castles, the ruined one and the one back in time. You'd just have to create an area trigger where you want the portal and then do a normal area transition connecting one to the other. The best way to learn is find a module that does waht you want and open it up in the tool set. That's how I learnt. Hope this all makes sense.

The single player mission had something similar in the creator race ruins just after fort Ilkard. You could look at how they did it there. They used a sundial and a time cristal ar somesuch.

Hello,
To create a time difference open the toolset and create a new module. Create the area and name it Present. Don't add characters, items or placeables yet, just the basic geography. Right click on the area's name in list and select copy. Right click on this new area, select properties, and rename it future, or past or whatever. Now you have two identicle places to frame different time settings in. Connect the the two area with an area transition trigger. See tutorials here: http://nwvault.ign.com/modules/tutorials/viewlets/ and here: http://nwn.bioware.com/
