I guess I had a bad Party:
2 Lizard fighters Level 12/13
1 Hobbit Gadeteer 13
1 Mook Ranger 13
2 Farie Bishops 12

Sparkle (Ranger) + Saxx (Bard)

I did not know that the two RPC would not go to Bayjin and was left with my core party to the underwater world. I have a probing headache and did not bother "going all the way back to get Myles or Vi"... I hate the Mt. Gigas Caves - its giving me a !^%#&() headache!

One thing I noticed is that my party could not handle Psionics or heavy magic users (Rynjins) and now PsiSharks. After several tries, I managed to take on Psi-Sharks simply by rushing towards them (psi-sharks dont use magic in melee range)...

I could barely survive with 2 Psi-sharks. I could barely survive 7 undewater Ghosts that kept on casting insanity, sleep, slow. It was insane party member that was killing my party.. x(

Not only that! NESSIE Level 26 with 800+ HP! I know no way could I handle nessie and I have to run away..

Now I am wondering.. I think I am way too low level to handle this part yet. What level should I be already?

I think I'd just either use a savegame editor and CHEAT my way through or simply restart from scratch or plain stop playing for a year (like I did with BG) to clear my headache and frustration!

Level 13 is a bit low, as you're finding. I found my party needed to be level 15 before being able to survive fairly easily ... they key of course is getting Soul Shield to provide resistance to the Psi attacks of the creatures in this area, there are others that use Psionics apart from the sharks.

If your divine caster can't get soul shield up at the start of round 1, ie. they've got the highest initiative then it'll be a struggle all the way I'm afraid.

I think your party is a little TO slow at least you must have an heavy magican in your party (Mage) and an Priest to cast healing spells the mage can cast "Elemental Skild and the Priest can cast "Sould skild" this is wery innportant later in the game because of all the nasty spell casters in this game!!

So trie this as your party to get the easy way to get trough the game:

Lizzardman: Figther (Avrage he he)
Fairy Ninja ( Get Cane of Corpus later in the game "best weapon in the game")
Priest (Healing spells)
Gadgetter (Cool guy) Really nasty later in game
Mage is an must i think wery nasty spells!!!
and at last an PSI with wery nasty "Mental" spells that almost every monsters coul`d NOT restist.

This is wath I think of an party i have olayed the game trough about 5 time`s and i have come to this party is preety good!!

Megabot,

The two Bishops will do just fine as casters. One can do soul shields and one can do element sheild. Why does he need a specialist mage? I just did Bajin with a lvl 16 party with two Bishops and no problems. I also popped Nessie with no problem.

I dont know how you people abel to get to level 15~18 in so short a time. Was it just the places I've been through or what?

This is the sequence of places I've visited:
1. Lower Monastery
2. Upper Monastery
3. Arnika (got Myles, Vi)
4. Trynton (killed the breeders, and other quests)
5. Swamp (killed lots of crocs)
6. Mine (Myled chickened out, got RFS-81)
7. Marten's Bluff
8. Swamp
9. Trynton (dumped RFS-81, got Madras, I dont need another melee)
10. Arnika
11. Umpani Camp (dumped Vi, dump Madras, got Saxx, got Sparkle)

I dumped Vi becasue she is basically melee. I am doing fine on that department with my 2 lizards. I dumped Madras because there was not much activity he can do - i already have a gadgeteer... I got sparkle because I dont have any Bard who can make good use of those neat musical instruments- specially that bagpipe of HEX...

I believe this party sucks... but where do I get to level up when there are literaly no monster to kill. I believe I leveled up 3~5x only between the times I 1st got to arnika and the time I reached bayjin shallows.

Where in Dominus are the monsters to get EXP?

Erm, are we playing the same game?

I've had monsters coming out of my ears when I don't want them! They re-spawn everywhere, just sit and rest, they'll come to you

The only times that I "feel overwhelmed" was the time I got to RFS-81. There were swarms after swarms of wasps and bats. My bishops literraly run out of Healing spell energy, and I could hardly position my group to move to a better "defendable" location.

This is the only times I felt "hunted" as you said. But those were still easy fights...

The only HARD fight I got was against 5 mauligators and 4 Ironhides in one fight. I spent more than 4 hours reloading...reloading... reloading till I got it right.

The reason why I proceeded to Bayjin Shallows with just my core party was primarily "Im sick and tired of going all the way back to fetch Vi and Myles" and secondly, I never felt "challenged" so I was thinking, I want to see how challenging it would be...

And yes, I am playing W8 v1.2.4... set to novice... <--- is it because Im playing novice thats making those monsters cower and not come after my party?

1.) I take Vi with me. I load her down to yellow and just run back and forth until she goes unconsious and then "run for the border". She may not be happy but she still helps quite a bit and continues to get experience.

2.) There is a trick to gaining mid levels. The quest from Crock is "redoable" The big frog continually respawns and if you repeatadly kill him you can give his leg to Crock and he will give you another 75,000 xp. If you put a portal at Crocks and another at froggies lake, you can pop back and forth and get a quick boost in levels.

As for your party being bad, there's nothing wrong with it. I have a :

Samurai
Faerie Ninja
Bard
Ranger
2 Bishops
plus
Vi and R2D2

It sounds like you are trying to get someone to give you permission to start over. If you want to, do it. But your party, if you developed it properly, should be just fine.

Nope, the difficulty setting apparently ony affects your "to hit" and "damage" values and those of the enemy, "novice" gives YOU a boost, expert boost THEM ... if I understand what I was told some time ago.
