At level 10 playing solo, the trip to Arnika was fairly easy. After the first 6 crabs just outside the Monastery, didn't run into anything until the higardi rogue types near the chest at the end of the left fork and they were only the 21 hp type. Had been expecting horrible battles but didn't get them. I didn't let her leave the Monastery until she could take on 3 Emerald Slime plus 6 Metallic Slime at once without taking much damage so admittedly she was pretty tough, and she had to chase them up and down the halls to take them out, Slime Chickens they were, bawk bawk! Still, am thinking that monster spawning on Arnika Road (or anywhere) just comes down to the roll of the dice when a party leaves the Monastery.
