I can not find any Dragon Ore. I found the burning cavern and made my way back to an area with 2 lava pups. After defeating the pups I wandered back into an area with a small lava lake on the right. I killed a lava hound. There are 2 ore piles on the ground to the right. I found two more ore piles 1 on the wall in the back left and 1 under it on the floor. I found other ore piles in other areas of the cavern but no Dragon Ore. I think I am in the right area. I have cast spells and walked around looking at every inch of the walls and floors. I can't find it and I am pretty sure I need it to continue later in the game. Can anyone tell me how to find it?

did you use a pick on the ore piles if not try it on all ore piles some give you nice gems

Yep - you are in the right area but as you have already been advised, you need a PICK to "use" on the ore piles to get anything from them.
