Hey,
Spoiler * * * * * * * * I just finished that ugly Shadow Dragon and got the Crom Fear Scroll (or whatever). I went to Cromwell and he told me I need the Belt of Frostgiant Strength. And here is the problem: When I battled the crew that is protecting the staff of magi I lost one party member, Valygar, and he had that belt. He was disintegrated so I could not resurrect him and he just dropped the Flail of Ages and the hair of Jaheira, nothing else. As I just took him to get inside the Planar Sphere, I had no problem with that in the beginning (I got busted to often for trying more and was just happy winning the battle with only one casualty). Is there any way to get that belt again/ back ? Thx Cheers |

I'm sorry but disintegrated means gone forever. As far as I know only quest items "survive" this spell (and the Flail of Ages which cannot be sold as well).

Is it worth loading once more and doing the whole Umar Hills quest again for that weapon ? What is so special about it ?
I’ve seen Keldor doing 50 damage (very often, indeed) with those Ogre Strength gauntlets on his hands. |

I never let assemble Cromwell this weapon. I prefer using the belt and the gauntlets to boost the strenghth of two more NPC's or my PC. (and I don't like hammers as well). I even don't know the Stats of this Hammer exactly but I think it raises the STR of its wielder to 25. But still I prefer the combination of more fighters with "lesser" STR to one with an overkill value.

Sorry, it took me a while to realize...
Are you sure you lost the belt of Frostgiant Strength? This item can be found not before chapter 5 (don't want to spoil where). Maybe the belt of hillgiant strength was disintegrated (the only belt which be can bought (Adventurer's Mart).

Levithikus,
Here are the stats for Crom Faeyr (courtesy of Baldur's Gate II @ Game Banshee...excellent BGII site). Grants 25 Strength to wielder. Kills Stone Golems, Clay Golems, ettins, and trolls. Does 2d4 + 3 damage per hit ThAC0 - +5 bonus Not Usable by: Druid, Mage, Thief. Now you can decide for yourself if it is worth it.

I meant: probably and hill.
I'll go on with the main story, I have some time left to decide it then. |
