Friedrich's Revenge
I have updated my homepage. The Helmetlands-subpage "Friedrich's Quest" now features the download link for Friedrich's Quest. Furthermore, the first (now completely coloured and shaded) page of the "Friedrich's Revenge" intro comic can be found there.

Re: Friedrich's Revenge
So I was checking out the site, Dinonujos, and the first thing I see is a game pic where some guy is talkin' and he appears outside of the viewport. Is that a for real game screen, cuz that is a neat trick (I think I know how to do that, but mebbe not... I didn't even think of something like that and IIRC FRUA had a few pics that extended outside the 3D view)
Anyhow, D, awesome art as usual. Keep it up! ST

Re: Friedrich's Revenge
I'm not exactly the man himself, but I can tell you that he's showing you a real screenshot.
DC places the small pic at the upper left coordinates set out in the config file and shows the whole picture, whatever it's size. |

Re: Friedrich's Revenge
Manikus is right. In this case, it is a sprite, however, not a small pic (just to be precise... ). In the default 640x480-resolution and normal screen layout, it is most effective to make the sprite pic 390 pxs in height (if you do not want it to cover the lowermost horizontal frame), and to darken the lowermost rectangle (124 pxs height), because this is where the sprite overlaps the text section.

Re: Friedrich's Revenge
Thanks!
Since I have the domicil to myself at the moment, the chances are good that I will make some progress with Friedrich's Revenge (or the related comic) during the weekend... Alternatively, I may work on voice acting for all helmetland-related designs... By the way, has anyone played the newer version ("Silver Edition") of Friedrich's Quest yet and can tell me if it is better/fairer than the version I made for the contest?

Re: Friedrich's Revenge
Heh, heh... What a coincidence, I have the domicil to myself as well... This is a good chance to get some work (ahem) done!
By the way, is there still a download link for the Silver Edition of Friedrich's Quest? (I may have missed it during my busy period.) Other mods, too - I have not been able to play Manikus's module yet, for one (I wasn't able to open the 7z file). (Perhaps I will stick links to all the mods on my site, so that I can find them myself when needed!)

Re: Friedrich's Revenge
I have reached the phase of "intensive playtesting" now. There are still some opponents to be placed, and I have to do two or three big pics, but the game is playable and has a lot of features which will be (at least I assume) unique among the DC designs available. One thing is that you can pick the pockets of NPCs you meet any time. Another is that you will get a score at the end of the game depending on how much you have seen of the "world" and how you finished the game.
Find a new screenshot below...
