I need to run a file with the extension ".iso".

What is an iso file, and what program can I use to open it?

It just loads up a Dos Prompt then closes instantly..........

Also, where can I get a program to open it?

ISO filed are usually disk images. You can search the web for utilities to make them and extract the files from them.

A while ago there use to be a program called ISO Buster, but i dnt think it is still around. Try a google search for opening iso files.

A quick google search found this link with nine different alternatives for what a .iso file could be. In addition to a disk image, it could also be a Sega or Playstation game file or an installshield file.

Depending on what your file is (I assume you know what it should do?) you might need to put it on a CD (burn as iso disc if it doesn't automatically) and then put the CD or disk in while starting your computer. If you could tell what it is it's even easier but above is for example for bootdisks and bootcds

I think you might need some files from the install shiel wizard site. Something like runtime libraries and then you could just open it.
edit: maybe this helps: http://consumer.installshield.com/fa...08436#Q108436n

hm...if its an iso file, then that means that its a disk image...goto this webstie and download daemon tools, it emulates a cd drive, and you can just mount the image as a virtual cd instead of burning it. The link is http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/port...tegory&catid=5

it's a way to make of one cd, say a game one file so its easy to download
to read or burn in your case you can use win iso witch you can download from tucows.com or from microsoft itself
