Think its a BRITISH...not English thing...but could be wrong....

Based on Nov 1st being All Saints Day....so the 31st of October is All Hallowed's Eve...or Halloween!!

The nightof 31st is when all the Ghosts & Ghouls flee before the Saints come the following Day....

We dont celebrate haloween here in Norway, but some children dresses up, and say "trick or treat".
Well, they might say the norwegian version, "knask eller knep". But it still means the same thing!

Christian festivals were based on, or at least put on the same day of, pagan ones, not the other way round...
