For Team TAVY

The four of you walk (and pad) into the town of Lockesville after your long journey and the feeling of being so near to rest and the comforts of civilization seem to give each of you a renewed burst of energy. Each of you have different goals in mind while you are here, and only share the common goals of seeking medical attention and rooms to rest in.

All the while that you are gazing about and planning to do this or that, you become aware of the town's people staring, but none appear particularly hostile nor nervous, though you indeed have a wolf at your side. Some kids in town see the wolf at Anarrima's side and not understanding the nature of wolves, want to come and pet her, but their mothers hold them back and whisper their disapproval.

The team realizes that before parting ways for the rest of the day, they should seek out whatever medical facilities are nearby and take care of the wounds they each suffered back at Castle Lesismoore. They can then go about their individual business for the rest of the day until nightfall where they will reunite at the Inn.

Learning of the locations of the Inn and the Medic House from a passerby, they head towards the medical building. When they come in, a nurse comes up to the party and speaks to the team:

”Welcome to Lockesville. How may we help you?

Anarrima

”My…familiar wolf companion…Tao…has suffered some heavy cuts and a life-threatening pierce through the chest that has been healing gradually with what I was able to offer with natural remedies and some small magical help. As for myself, I have several gashes and am greatly fatigued.

The nurse realizes that the wolf is the most harmed of all the people here…and though she had never before been asked to heal a wolf…this was a farming town and she was also the town’s veterinarian. Judging this…familiar to be a friendly…um…wolf…she led Tao to a room while another nurse escorted Ana to a separate room. A third nurse came forth to see what the two males needed.

”I…I have never seen to the medical needs of an elf before, but I will do what I can.
How may I help you two?”

Some time ago, far away...

Andrion Wilgor

Unido con la Asombra.
(*)

Revelling in the destruction I wrought. The ground littered by dead and disfigured bodies around me. Bodies, which have found a release from their mortal toils in death. Release which I gave them. On his orders.

Andrion smoothed a crease in his robes. He noticed a smear of dried blood from his latest victim on the sleeve of it, but that did not bother him. It was but a reminder to him of the power he had been blessed with. It seemed to him now, after a few days had passed since he was handed this potency, that the previous days and weeks spent in the body of that wretched owl had been merely a preperation for much greater things to come.

The wind blew from the west, from where his Tower stood.

We have entered a new kind of relationship...the Mage and I. Lo que se da con una mano se puede quitar con la otra.
(**) He has gifted me, but I need to serve him. And serve him well. Better than any of his previous servants, who have failed. Better than how I served him earlier. For I had failed. Miserably. I overestimated my own power. It shall not happen again.

Four days journey separate him from the tower. Getting to this backwater village, which was no village any more, had been easy, the portal from the throne room had been as direct as it could get. But to get back Andrion had to walk. He did not resent the exercise. On the contrary. He cherished having legs again to walk with. Hands to hold with. And a mouth to cast spells with.

Four days to get acquainted with his new self. It was to be an interesting four days.

OOC: (*) One with Shadow.
(**) What one hand gives the other can take away.

Gillian

Gillian watched the shore draw closer to the boat as the captain drifted the vessel into Lockesville harbour. The little port was modest with just one pier built out into the deeper water. A handful of small rowing boats and one masted fishing vessel were drawn up on the beach to either side. Hardly a bustling commercial hub, Gillian thought, although he had long since lost any personal interest in such speculations. The only structures visible were a simple but sturdy looking hut and an open-sided drying shed. As he watched, a figure emerged from the hut and walked towards the pier calling to a man mending nets to join him. Over their heads Gillian could see the rough road that lead up to the town itself.

A noise behind him drew his attention and he regarded the figure at the side still retching uncontrollably even this close in. The elf had sought out his company on the boat, recognising him as a ‘fellow mage’ – he would have to watch that in future – and in truth they had some interesting conversations, for the first week at least. Still he was not so obsessed with study that he was blind to the fact that people could be useful in many different ways.

The boat bumped gently into the pier and Gillian grabbed his gear hopped up onto the side and jumped the couple of feet down to the boards landing in front of and startling the man who had left the hut earlier. The townsman took a step backwards but quickly regained his composure and adopted a serious expression and examined Gillian. The fisherman ignored him, walking past to help the crew to secure the boat. “Welcome to Lockesville”, the man said at last, “I am harbour master here. Please state your name and business in our town.” The man’s tone was business-like and neither deferential nor suspicious, Gillian’s well-tailored but otherwise unremarkable clothing apparently having earned him a neutral evaluation.

Dropping his pack to the ground and slinging a belt of pouches over his shoulder Gillian stepped forward, smiled warmly at the official and extended his hand. “Hello, my name is Gillian, merchant and currently traveling companion and assistant in worldly matters to the mighty and noble elven mage you see before you.” He gestured grandly in the direction of the robed figure clutching the side of the boat and wiping his sleeve across his mouth. He drew closer to the harbour master and lowered his voice to an urgent whisper. “He is currently suffering as you can see from his efforts battling across other planes of existence while we were on our voyage. He is a good man but the sickness might make him a little short-tempered. I appreciate it is your duty to question him but it would help me a lot and probably be a safer for everybody if you were polite.” He straightened up and gave the man an encouraging smile then hearing footsteps on the gang plank turned to see his ‘employer’ disembarking. “Ah, here he comes now.” Gillian took a step to the side, caught the harbour master’s eye, mouthed the word ‘polite’ and gave him a reassuring nod.

She looks at Ana, then at the nurse contemplating... she finally wags her tail at the nurse and follows her into another room. She jumps up on an old wooden table and lays down, laying her head between her paws, and snorts.

The bracer around her neck glows a soft blue, and she relaxes a little, although not completely. Even in wolf form, she does not trust humans much, although she has come to adore Ana as a companion and friend. Hoping this will not take long, she already begins to think of a pub, and a long cool drink of local mead and a plate of food.

Her stomach growls loudly, and she quickly looks up at the human, wagging her tail embarrased..

Yevaud

Yevaud explores the town, cloak up to do what it can to disguise his features, not out of fear of the villagers, but to try and stave off curious children and other rubberneckers who would try to see a "real live elf." He tried to feel the land as he walked about in town, trying to connect with it. He hadn't done such since he'd left the elven lands, either through lack of time, or a poor environment to try it. He felt little, either through clumsy human cultivation techniques or his weighing fatigue he did not know, so he instead spotted out several locations of note and then retired to the inn to relax and regain his stamina.

Xaver and Pandaros

Pandaros relaxed as the other group disappeared from sight. While he now believed they were not a threat, tension had gripped his back and shoulders as long as the wolf was near.

The scout agreed to Xaver's timetable and pointed with his bow to the forest. "I'll head this way and make a circuit that takes me through the forest around the nearest farms. If you investigate those farms we should remain close enough that you'll hear my arrows. Hopefully it won't come to that," Pandaros offered a crooked smile, "but given what's happened in this town so far, who knows what to expect."

Xaver looked towards the forest where Pandaros was pointing and then towards the farmlands. Before him, he could see a few farms scattered amongst green fields and pastures, on which herds of cattle grazed peacefully. The scenery was so beautiful and idyllic, that even Xaver - who being a dwarf, cared little about forests and farming - was moved by it. Then, remembering his task, he thought for a moment that it would be useless to search for anything in the farms themselves and maybe it would be better to head towards the forest with his companion. He put that thought aside. Pandaros was a scout and much better at finding tracks in the forest. And the farmers might just have heard or seen something which could aid them. "Alright he said. Sounds fair. Good luck in your search and be careful. We don't know how close whatever we're looking for is from here."

The scout kept his bow at the ready as he cautiously and quietly wove his way through the trees. He kept his senses attuned to notice strange tracks or sounds, not moving so slow that he could inspect every bit of ground but slow enough to get a general impression of each area he passed through.

Xaver watched Pandaros move slowly away. His opinion of his companion, which went downhill after Sever deserted them, was improving again. As the scout entered the forest, the dwarf looked at the farms, and made his way towards the closest one. He covered his axe, not wanting the sight of it to scare the farmers, who would probably be surprised enough as it is at the sight of a dwarf.

Anarrima

Anarrima was taken care of medically, and when she had received the bandages she needed, she left the room to find that Yevaud had already been patched up and was outside somewhere exploring the town. Vincent was assumed to still be in the office getting his cuts cleaned.

Anarrima waited for Tao to be finished, which took a while. When the nurse came out of the room with the wolf, she explained what she had done and what procedures of care needed to be followed. After services were paid for, Ana and her wolf companion set out to see what the town had to offer. Althought she now carried Tao's staff for her, she had lost her own back at Lesismoore and wanted to replace it, and maybe find some suitable change of clothing as well. Asking around for help was profitable enough and she followed the directions to a shop where a man named Vindson would be there to serve her needs.

Walking inside and coming up to the counter, she waited for a moment before finally knocking the end of the staff against the wooden floor in hopes that this Vindson was nearby.

Kuankreid (& Ainyra)

Kuankreid (or ‘Kuan’) had not had a good voyage, if it could even be termed as such. The young elf had found himself hurling over the side of the boat, more surprised that his delicate sense of elven balance had not compensated for the rolling waves. He wiped his mouth with the edge of his sleeve and unsteadily stepped from their vessel. He did not hear Gillian’s little speech, but surely, he’d have been grateful for his kind words.

The elf returned his companion’s eye and mumbled, “Yes, pleased to meet you sir.” Kuan looked paler than usual, making him appear more sickly and corpse-like to attractively elven. Clad in dusty grey and blue robes, he attempted to bow and succeeded only in groaning as his stomach protested and clapped a slender hand across his mouth and swallowed down the burning bile that threatened to overwhelm him. ‘Never again will I travel by boat…’

From somewhere in the pack slung over one shoulder, he could have sworn he heard a maniacal giggle. Probably just his imagination. Ainyra would never laugh at his discomfort, surely? Either way, Kuan would deal with her after the harbour master had responded to his words.

Vindson

It had been a late breakfast after the first long sleep-in he had had in several years for Vindson. The previous day and all the work he had done on the Locke's behalf for the adventurers had worn him out more than he had suspected. His age might finally be starting to show, he thought, leisurely walking back towards his shop.

To his surprise, there was a most unexpected customer there. Even seeing her back and her pale golden hair from behind as she entered his shop, Vindson could easily tell that she wasn't human. It had been many years since Vindson last saw an elf during his travels. He had never expected to see one here in Lockesville. She and her wolf companion, sporting a most peculiar bracer around it's neck were already in Vindson's shop when he got there.

Most beautiful, violet eyes greeted him, and for several seconds Vindson was left speechless. He had always been fascinated by the almost unnatural beauty of elves. His visitor's beauty was even accentuated by the contrast between her pretty face and the state in which her garments were. Her golden-trimmed white robes and deep blue cloak were worn and dusty. Most likely several weeks on the road, Vindson thought.

"My name is Vindson," he blurted out without thinking, then hastily added, "I'm the smith in this town. I am sorry for my surprise, but it has been many years since my eyes gazed upon an elf in far away lands, and I did not expect one as far as you, here in Lockesville."

Vindson's thoughts were darting around fast. He tried to concentrate hard, but the figure of the elf in front of him did not help his concentration in the least.

"How may I help you?", he asked, hoping that he'd have time to recompose himself while she replied.

Anarrima

It was a common occuranace for humans in isolated towns such as this to be overwhelmed by elvish features. Usually, she felt uncomfortable at the attention but this older gentleman seemed quite nice and she paid his flattery with a smile.

"I am looking to make some purchases, sir. I hope to find a decent measure of wood in the forest that you might fashion into a staff. Would you have the means to perform this labor, as well as inform me as to the whereabouts of a tailor or seamstress?"

She looked down at Tao and gave her a rub across the head as she spoke to her.

"We'll take care of you too while we're at it."
