Seems that, on an un-patched version on win98, the guild keeps giving
rewards for the leprechaun quest. (And for my assassin it keeps giving
a reward for grue morde too)

And there's also a bug where you keep getting rewarded for giving the note to Jathil in the priest's guild (only in the unpatched games do these bugs exist). I wasn't aware of the lep one though

Yup, was aware of the Jathil bug and that the Torin reward could be abused too.

Shame about the final thief guild quest. Have done almost everything else now.

You actually can do the final quest. Just enter the rogue's shop with 2 thieves, have 1 accept the quest and the other decline it. Have one of the complete the quest, and then the one who declined it will get the quest.
Or (this was is easier), just make a bs character, have him/her complete the hook quest, then do the lep quest. Then bring back your main thief, ask for a quest, and you'll get the final quest.

I have found that that procedure does not always work either. The only sure way is to complete the Talrik's Hook quest and the Leprechaun quest, finish the game by killing Cet (or joining him), and then undertaking the Talon's Fang quest.

The thieves' guild quests in Brimloch Roon are messed up, and worse than the wizards' guild quests.

You get the first quest with no problem. That's the hook.

You then get the second quest for the leprechaun's stone.

If you complete that, you do not get the third quest (for Talon's Fang). You get caught in that endless reward loop.

So the common workaround is for one character to complete the second quest, and for everyone else to skip it. They can then complete the third quest. The poor schlub who took the second quest never gets a chance for the third quest, but it's okay; they get the perpetual reward thing.

And the fang is a treasure from the Mother of Crabs, IIRC. She is in Collasium.

For more information on the Talon's Fang quest check this particular information on Xignal's Site or Sazerac's excellent post on the matter.
