My boyfriend's been living there for half a year, and he had splendid weather! Not a lot of rain, quite some sunshine, and a beautiful layer of snow covering everything in the winter. He went from September till February and mostly the weather was better than over here.
I visited Scotland 4 times now, seen the area east and south of Glasgow (Ayr) and Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling. Still want to go up to Inverness some time, but I gave my boyfriend a short break to Scotland for his birthday (we're going in Feb) so we might do that then.
Oh, and there's still a fair chance we might both move therre for at least a few years - he to do his PhD, I to do an MA and possibly also a PhD there...

As for your question - what do you want to know that you cannot find on Google? Personal tales of what it's like to live there? Clarify!

A small but important point. It's the Irish that have whiskey, the Scots have whisky!

Bloody pedantry will be the death of me!

It will be the cessation of sufficient biological functions required to sustain life that will be the death of you, not pedantry

LOL, thank you Fred!! If it weren't for you, my reputation as a pedant would be much worse than it already is. I was actually hoping you'd come along to correct the whisky error, since I think I exceeded my quotum of nitpicks this month.
BTW - you get double points for correcting a fellow pedant (lead-led), so better be careful now!

ped'ant /'pednt/ noun (disapproving) a person who is too concerned with small details or rules especially when learning or teaching

Zuvio: target acquired -> engage in hostile combat with the pedants!
