I think it goes without saying that whomever the current president is, he will be subject to every and all sort of satire and barb.

And that naturally there will be more material and jokes about Bush because A) he was there for 8 years and B) he is down as one of America's worst presidents in history. Also, people like Bush or Sarah Palin are comical, nitwit kinda people. They are easier to make fun of because they are widely perceived as being not very bright. Obama is alot different. Many comedians that I have seen in interviews have said that Obama is very tough to make fun of because he can speak well and does not come off as dumb. His flaws are not immediately obvious in the way G.W.'s were (i.e. when he opened his mouth) or how Palin can't list newspapers she reads etc. Maybe they should emulate his demeanor instead of whining.

Yes, Bush had the lowest approval rating to date for a president. Contrary to the president with the highest approval rating in history. Do you know who that was? The *exact* same president. Post 911, Bush had the approval of a higher percentage of americans than any other president.

Every one has it's ups and downs. I'm content with waiting to see what obama does, and how he does it.

Yeah, I know who it is. But, we all know how that turned out. This was when people believed Saddam had the WMA's. Like I said, in retrospect look what a mess that turned out to be. That, and the fall of the economy in his last years.

Hindsight is 20/20, eh? That said, I figured it was appropriate to the topic. Obama had a high (relatively) approval rating at the beginning, similar to bush, and now it's at 60% disapproval.

Which is why I don't put much stock in the ratings. This always happens in a presidency. They promise things when elected, approval is high. They don't deliver, or they do other things, approval drops.

Well, actually it was a brilliant plan, it just didn't work out. But had we actually won the squares when we checked the box for Iraq after checking the box for Afghanistan, we *could* have had the perfect set up. Why? God forbid they make people file, *gasp*, 1099 forms in effort to collect $18 bn in unpaid taxes. You know, not everyone who buys and sells gold is trying to evade taxes, but it certainly could be a vehicle for those who do in fact do that. I appreciate ABC's effort to sensationalize it by focusing on TEA party members and others who may buy gold because they're afraid the world will collapse into socialism, but really those aren't the big buyers that are shuffling funds to launder them, which is who the requirement would logically be targeting.

Many are individuals looking to protect wealth in an uncertain economy, he said, while others are dealers like him. With spot market prices for gold at nearly $1,200 an ounce, Heller estimates that he'll be filling out between 10,000 and 20,000 tax forms per year after the new law takes effect. "I'll have to hire two full-time people just to track all this stuff, which cuts into my profitability," he said.

Sounds like a plan to me. Collect 18 billion in new revenue and add jobs at the same time!
