Nice car. And $3000 per annum is expensive for insurance? I live in Canada, and currently new drivers pay between $5000-$8000 per annum. Just remember to get your odometer and spedometer changed if you upgrade to bigger tires, friend of mine forgot too .

We're talking amounts in different currency here, so how much do we really understand? I pay about $2000-3000 US per year, but that includes collision insurance on a 2002 vehicle.

Wasn't planning on hoodwinking you for a second, general; those are the dealer's pics, not mine. I've had to wait a few days with getting the plates, but I'm definitely getting them sorted next week. I'm going for "m0t0wn" - I hope that's still available. My state is emptier than a dumb blonde's head, so I think I've got a good chance.

Chris and TL - I'm paying $175 a month in insurance for this car. I think that's pretty steep, but I really can't find anything cheaper.

Knock of a couple of wheels, ditch the doors and roof and you could be onto something

I think its safe to say that if you don't have a VR6 (the 6 cyl engine) that you must have the 4 cyl Turbo. And if you are getting your 4 cyl turbo up to 125mph, there is no doubt in my mind that your car has been 'chip-tuned', something thats generally a no-no waranty-wise in the US.

(but since VW dealers can't detect the difference, have fun!)
