Is W&W anything like Wizardry 8? Or part of the Wizardry family?

Not seen the game, and looking around for something to play next.

Cheers.

No it's not very Wizardry-like. However it excels that entire series when it comes to game-play. Perhaps that is just my *cough* humble *cough* opinion.

Wizards & Warriors is a great game though. Lots of puzzles, lovely scenery and tricky enemies. There is a story somewhere in the game but sometimes it tends to get lost. You will have several adventures though trying to save the world and plenty of opportunities for side quests as well. And even though the game is old the graphics aren't all that bad. I dare say most other board members will urge you to try this game as well.

Welcome to the board, Target!!

I think W&W is rather Wizardry like - Bradley who wrote W&W used to write some of the Wizardry series so there are similarities.

I like W&W much better than Wiz8. Give it a try!

Welcome to the boards, Target! May you find fun, fame, and friendship in the Gael Serran...

W&W is a first-person CRPG. It has similarities to the Wizardry series in terms of races and skill / attribute points, but it differs in terms of the mixing of sci-fi -- that doesn't happen in W&W.

I prefer it to Wiz8 because of the sci-fi stuff. Somehow, swords and six-guns don't mix well... I mean, why would you stay with a sword?

There is a lot of gameplay (and game replay as well) in this one -- and I'm only one slightly biased person. I started my CRPG career with Might & Magic 1 many years ago, and I prefer a D&D style CRPG game. W&W fit that job description to a tee for me.

Best thing, though, is that since it's an older game, you could probably find it very cheaply now if you wanted to try it out. All you have to lose is a few weekends and nights of gaming....

I hope you try it out. And if you do, and you get stuck, come on back -- there's just about nothing in the game that we can't solve.

*points toward Willow and Wyv*

And they're responsible for lots of it!

And a warm welcome to the board from me as well.

I cannot help you much with your main question since I have never played the Wizardry series. I can however heavily endorse this game.

Do feel free to ask us about game details that you want to know more about. Also if you use the search engine you are sure to find many threads around this forum where people, new to the game, have had questions answered.

G'day Target,
I'm currently playing Wizardry 8 & have played through Wizards & Warriors a few times.
There are similarities especially in the way that your charactors develop. The fighting in W&W is far superior in that it is more real time. Some fights in W8 can be a bit tedious.
I would recommend W&W as the best game I've ever played.

The game is quite cheap nowadays and should be fairly easy to find in the stores. The last time I was in my local computer games shop they had two copies for sale. If all else fails, let me know and I will put you in contact with that store.

Wow £3.99, and to think I had to pay like $29.99?

That's a pretty good deal...keep us posted on your game!
