Hey All, I just started playing BGII SOA on-line last night with my good friend Tuna. However I have a question. As we are starting from scratch and I have completed the game previosly, How do I not spoil it for my friend who has not beaten the game before? For example; He was going to pass up talking to Rielev in the dungeon, thus avoiding the exp that comes with releasing him from his torment. I stepped in and told my friend to talk to Reilev, but how far should I go with this? Am I spoiling the game or not? Any response would be appreciated. thx

I understand your point, and up to a certain point it will be helpful if you have someone pointing out where to get experience from. It will probably spoil his game, though, so caution is advised when spoiling things (even it's for the best!).

Maybe a better idea is to let your friend complete the game in single player and THEN you guys start a multiplayer session. Or you could only point out the bare necessities to him. Your choice

You might also consider asking Tuna what he would prefer. You could play through multiplayer once, and let him lead, and then play again and go to more of the hard to find area/quests that you might have missed.

Thanks for the replies. I will talk it over with Tuna and see what he prefers. He opted to be leader so I guess I'll go the way He would like. thanks again.

I would only speak up in cases where not knowing what's coming up could cause a LOT of aggravation, or cost you a significant amount of fun. Examples:

Tuna: "Let's give this skull his bones back and just see what happens."

Tuna: "Screw you, Saemon! We'll take this portal, to WHEREVER it leads, rather than deal with you again, you bastard!"

Tuna: "We've got lots of Healing Potions, so we won't need a Cleric or a Rod of Resurrection or anything. If we need anything special, I'm sure there'll be lots of Temples, no matter where we go."

You just warn him about the big things(that aren't obvious), and have him handle everything else. Oh, but give common-sense advice, too. ("Are you sure you want to attack that Dragon with only 2 Webs and an Identify memorized?")

Instead of telling him what to do, show him how to use the journal.
