Curiouser and curiouser. There is some video footage of the Fairford crash here. Here It is number 25 on the list. If you freeze frame at the point of collision the point of impact is exactly the same as on the photograph and the second aircraft catapults upwards. Also, if you right click on the original photograph the properties show the title to be 'UN_fairford_sm.jpg'. (I appreciate this is not conclusive evidence).

The original photograph must have been taken at an extremely high shutter speed to freeze it like that.

Back to you Charlie

Definitely Mig-29 Fulcrums. The SU-27 Flanker's front fuselage is a lot longer.

Err back to me....why, for what reason? I guess I'll know better than quoting somebody that has asked not to be quoted next time. As clearly stated I got someone to "have a quick butchers". At the time he was more concerned with the planes in question rather than location. Upon leaving me I shouted through to him "is it the English crash" (that I wrongly assumed was Farnborough) and got the reply " no, that one was head on", "definitely not" I called back, "yes" came the reply. Obviously if the time had been taken to study videos and check the img properties rather than just a cursory glance then chances are that the English crash would have been the ultimate conclusion. For anyone viewing that video it is still incredibly difficult to say yes they are one and the same crash on first look. Personally a "you can check in properties for the location" would have sufficed but I guess some people have just got to make smart comments that they consider to be stylish. Curiouser and curiouser. My apologies for attempting to help out.
