Sorry, Aleph_null1. What I was trying to communicate was the difference between the school and the spells.

You can only learn a school if it's native to your class -- moon for bards, sun for samurai, vine for rangers, etc.

Once you learn a school, however, you can continue to learn spells in it, even if you're no longer in that class.

The limits that you mention for non-native schools do apply. Guess I should have specifically spelled out that your ability to continue to learn spells (even if you become a barbarian) is subject to that limitation.

Pretty much, except Bards can't use the Assassin's Dagger or Rogue's Stone (though I'll have to check on the latter).

They can't? Well, I haven't seen a bard for a long time but I think they can use the Assassin's Dagger. I am not sure but I will check it.

I just converted one wizard to bard. She did indeed start with a fiend spell in addition to her moon spell, and can apply points to either when she raises levels. I will check shortly as to whether the game considers fiend to be native (allowing 7th level) or non-native (denying it). I'd try by confirming the spells available at a level-up, but I'm probably not patient enough...
