It wouldn't be hard to send an email warning of account deactivation say, two weeks before deletion takes place. That way people facing deletion have an option.

Re: Cloudy's Cafe, a conversation zone, August 19, 2007
I believe Z is working on removing invalid or inactive accounts. In theory its good to remove the ones that aren't really here or part of the board, but it takes time because in some cases there are reasons why someone hasn't posted in a few months (no internet access for whatever reason or taking a small break etc) and sometimes they just don't remember their passwords or have left, who knows? Some have family issues and only lurk or post once in a while, but enjoy coming here or getting info on games etc. I imagine no log on for a year or more might be a good criteria, but again, there will always be exceptions!

No need to be hasty. There's plenty of usernames to go around.

I doubt there are any people like that, but anyway, as long as you log on you should keep your account. Even if you're the forum version of a wallflower.

Now that's what I was thinking. It's not about whether or not you post, logging in for a second or two at least shows you still care.....

Yeah, I'll do something like that, because this new forum sends out Birthday emails everyday--about 30 or so (Crazy isn't it? to see THAT many EACH DAY!) but I get some bounce backs--where the email addresses are no longer working, so I'll indeed send some type of warning out, and auto nuke those accounts after a period of time... I'm sure atleast half or more of the accounts are dead.. I could be wrong, but who knows. I also KNOW for a fact there are many users that created accounts, and only lurk--but like to have an account anyway--which is fine to. I *will* be keeping members we miss--like Donut and others. Those accounts will stay active incase they come back--and others who we just want to keep for memories--Animal.

Howdy all! I have a 3 day weekend! Whoohoo! Got to do some housework, check out a movie or two and convince my hubby to throw out or give away stuff he never wears or that's too big....wish me luck on THAT one! *snicker*
