It IS possible to be embedded into a surface, it happened with WW2 firebombings in Hamburg, Dresden and Kessel, were the heat was so great it fused people into the road (cheerfull thought eh?)

I believe the article said that some people had been embedded halfway into the deck, and not merely 'glued' to a surface, although that is a more likely scenario.
