Besides, as a foreign born citizen, at least we know he won't ever be president. Ugh, think about it..."Schwartanomics".

Calm down people,
It happens all the time that celebrities with no clue of politics whatsoever are voted into office because of their popularity. Italians had a porn star in senate for one term, Austria had a former Skiing downhill olympic champion and don't forget about terrific "We begin bombing in five minutes" Reagan switching from Hollywood to Pennsylvania Avenue 1600.

Here in Holland we had a so-called celebrity running for office too. To all you non Dutch TV watchers, be glad you don't know the fella, he's a professional idiot. His name is Emile Ratelband.
Unfortunately for him, Dutch people are quite rational, and don't put up with crap like that, and so he got 0 votes.

We had a comedian running for Parliament as an independant with such election-promises as more sunshine, no head-wind while biking and better park-benches - and he got elected Mainly on the 'usual' protest-vote.
He had tried several times before and each time he'd used the money parties and candidates get for campaigning to serve free beer to the electorat - Something for you, Johnny

He's a wickedly smart and motivated guy, who became a self-made millionaire in his 20's through property deals, built up his wealth through managing his own burgeoning movie career in his early 30's, and has since been smart enough to use his talents to become so rich he would make Croesus turn green. Seriously, though. I wouldn't vote for him, because I disagree with his politics, but I think many people are fooled into thinking that because his accent is clumsy-sounding, then he is a bit dumb. Nothing could be further from the truth. He is an extremely intelligent and passionate man, and I can certainly see him being a far better candidate than some mentionable ones both paties manage to churn out on a regular basis.

He does not only have a clumsy English accent he also fails to speak German (his mother-tongue) correctly. Basically he speaks English with an Styrian (south-eastern Austria) accent and German with an American accent.
He may be sly or clever but the quality I look for in a politician is wisdom and as far as I know of his bio and his political engagements so far I doubt that he is a wise man. [ 08-09-2003, 07:09 PM: Message edited by: Faceman ]
