Just a quick question (I don't want to be a nuisance and clog up the front page with threads, so I'll delete this when I get an answer): Baldur's Gate 2 SoA is a very good game, but I have not played the pre-games. To get the story right and all that, I wondered if anyone could just give me a list (In order) of the BG games. Thanks

Also, though you don't care, I'd like to say a quick thanks to my Grandad. He gave me BG2 SoA for my birthday, and for that I thank him because I now play an awesome game.

Baldur's Gate, Tales of the Sword Coast
Baldur's Gate II, Shadows of Amn
Baldur's Gate II, The Throne of Bhaal (not #3, ToB is an extension of SoA)

Thanks, but I searched for ToSC on Amazon. It came up with "Baldurs Gate Expansion: Tales of Sword Coast". What's with the "expansion" bit???

Tales of the Sword Coast is the expansion. The actual game is simply called Baldur's Gate.

Yea, the first Baldur's Gate is Tales of the Sword Coast, ToSC is just a side name like SoA is for Baldur's Gate II.

Thanks, guys. I just need to make sure before I "Proceed to checkout".

BALDURS GATE TALES OF THE SWORD COAST is one game, not two games where ToSC is the expansion? If it IS two games, does it matter? The title reads: BALDURS GATE & TALES OF THE SWORD COAST, implying that, if it is two games, I would receive 2 discs. I've received two answers that say different things, so one last explanation to complete the judgement would be very much appreciated.

I have to admit: upon searching I could not find just an ordinary 'Baldur's Gate'. Just a general question - who the hell is Baldur?

Baldur`s Gate is one game. TotsC is expansion.
Balduran was a Dwarf. He was an adventurer.

You may find that what you have there is the 3-CD version which has both BG1 and its expansion TotSC. They managed to compress it a lot better in that release - The original BG1 was 5 CDs and the expansion was another 1.
Mine is called "Baldur's Gate - The Original Saga" and has a note on the box "Includes Tales of the Sword Coast Expansion Pack" (Mine is the 3-CD version)
I don't think you can get BG1 by itself any more, and I paid AU$20 for this one, so it should be cheap.

Once you have it, you may find that you'd rather play BG1 through using BGT (A mod which converts the BG1 content to the BG2 engine) especially as the default walking speed in BG1 is so slow compared to BG2. It is a massive download, however, and there are aparrently still some bugs in it. Your choice.
