Bruce, it depends what part of London you live in - chances are your choice will be limited to whichever cable company covers your area. In my case it's Telewest and I just got a GREAT deal from them because I'm an existing phone and TV customer - £25 a month and free install including supply and installation of the NIC. I'm currently paying £16 for AOL flatrate dial-up and £9 for an additional phone line, so cable won't cost me any more than I currently pay!
So I get cabled this Thursday!

i've looked into my local cable company's (NTL's) offer. i've already got cable wich makes it easier but they say you have to have digital cable and mines analogue. its not that i don't want to and can't upgrade its just that NTL digital is really a pretty pethetic sevice compared to the likes of sky. i'll check again tho just incase i was mistaken thanx for the idea anyway

am I the only one who finds it a tad odd that people outside of the U.S. use AOL but nobody in their right mind WITHIN America actually uses AOL... 0.o

PS: One cable service i don't recomend to anyone is the Cuban one, it's on all the time, you pay for it by the month, and guess what... you're limited to the ammount of data you actually DOWNLOAD... its 300 megs and then NO MORE... O_o am I the only one who goes through 300 megs in a DAY with my Download manager... if i had cable i'd be charging up the bills beyond the limit BUT HERES THE REALLY GAY PART (no offense to anyone) you have to pay 20 bucks or so for every additional megabyte you download... now COME ON... is that NOT ... I cant think of another word to describe it... GAY!

Luckily Me, RBF, and um yeah thats it... are the only people down here who'd even think about getting it before saying "no" and as for the rest of you, and this goes to the people down here who actually signed up for the god forsaken service, do not ever sign up for a service as terrible as that! Charges by the megabyte I tells ya and you have no way of actually monitoring how many megs you have left with permission to load @_@... I don't know exactly who I'd blame for this monstrocity, i suppose ill just blame Fidel... -_- *glares at that watchtower up there yarr* *Castro glares back yarrr with a cigar in his mouth and binoculars*

Deathkiller, in Britain, the phone company BT operates a bit of a monopoly. If they provide your phone, it is easy to get flat-rate dial-up connection because you can dial up to a BT only freephone number, hence no call charges. If, like me, your phone is provided by a cable company, most ISPs can't offer you a flat-rate internet service, you have to pay for the phone bill at something like 2p a minute off peak. AOL is one of the few ISPs large enough to be able to afford to provide freephone dialup (ie no call charges) to cable phone users.

I know that, I'm just shocked at how something that sucks so much can be so large and powerfull... lol... When I connect through AOL, i think i might have in NewYorkCIty... no wait there I had broadband in my hotel room... AH my grandparents place yeah... it felt like a differint internet... O_o maybe it was just me or something or the fact that I had to leave this other silly browser open to use IE or something along those lines... bah I'll never understand conglomorates, its always the stupid ones that hit it off big. Just look at microsoft for christ's sake! now you can't tell me you actually ENJOY windows can you? So then why is it on your and everybody else's computer! Do we EVEN KNOW! I think the best thing microsoft ever did was IE and even it has its flaws... Word, bad, Excel, bad, Powerpoint, only lets you do one animation at a time hence bad... no offense to those M$ lovin' people out there.. and I suppose i cant diss the X box but if I had a souped up G4 i could kick its hiney too... and Write DVDs at the same time actually i'm gonna get an alienware because ill NEED windows in order to go to colledge, how lame is that? no visual basic or C++ for mac all we got is Java and our own form of binary : / why is that you ask? because a silly company based on a stolen idea sold itself to multiple computer companies and it was like a leech with many mouthes! BAH now you got me ranting again!

The X-box is going to be i'd guess one of the easiest consoles to make an emulator of (if you've got a fast machine) simply because you just know microsoft used there basic microsoft code.

P.S i've checked NTL digital to see if its worth upgrading for broadband and i've found out sky offers so many ore channels.

Telewest is also good value for money its like £35 a month but you have to have the digital smart box which costs another £50, plus you have to pay line rental..... But its still good..... Get it
