Default Mask of the Betrayer thread

Just started playing this and it seemed good until I started getting hit by invisible hit points then when bartering at a merchant I just died. It seems to do with soul eating or not eating. Can someone please explain this to me and how do I avoid it

Playing a good fighter / bard / RDD / weapon master

You have a little meter that shows how hungry the soul eater is. If it gets below a certain point, you'll start to take damage as it starts eating you. While I'm shakey on the details, there is a way to sate it w/out tipping your alignment/reputation with your party, and it's explained in one of the abilities. I don't have a save game running in MotB to look though.

Thx RTB

( How are you BTW)?

Just been getting my head around the problem, it's distracting me from an otherwise good game. I'm trying to choose 'resist' option but the mechanics are confusing to say the least.

Yeah, it's a PITA to be sure. I think I played through it once after I got it.

I've seen better days, to be sure, but not doing too bad overall currently.

Wellard,

Here is a fairly comprehensive (even if I DO say so myself - since I wrote it) breakdown on Spirit Hunger and the associated feats to manage it.

http://www.thieves-guild.net/index.php?pid=314

If it still proves to be a pain, there is also a section with some tips as well as cheat codes to manage the spirit hunger thru the cheat console; including a cheat to turn of the spirit hunger completely:

Well just finished it today

mmmmmm

Some parts very good, some parts just average but spoiled by the 'spirit level watching'. I was using an imported character that was frankly way to powerful - my character died only twice - once at the tree ( i got distracted by my kids - it was a long fight) and once in the final scene that just took one reload to work out.

I will try a weaker character next time and now being able to understand and manipulate the spirit level easier I may get more out of the game.

I didn't start that one; instead, I had begun Storm of Zehir but got bored wandering around the overland map and having to sit through all the random fights that weren't very challenging.

I might pick it back up in a couple of weeks, though. We'll see how it goes.
