What is the best team?

I try to work with a team of 4 to maximize xp:

- myself, a fighter dualled to mage

- Mazzy: I replaced Korgan with her 'cause I got tired of his grousing and
evilness, and she has evolved to pretty much as good a fighter as he was,
with a much better personality, plus higher rep for the group.

- Jaheira: she's kinda cranky, but an old friend from the original BG, so I keep
her around. She's great with the Sling of Everhard, and a ferocious melee
fighter with her BlackBlood Club +3 and the appropriate enhancing spells.
And I love those Druid/Cleric spells, esp. Entangle.

- Jan: the best NPC in the game (see previous post).


For one of those battles of epic proportions, I will sometimes pick up a 5th character, usually either Minsc (whom I love, and miss when he's not in the party) or Valygar, who is a tough dude when wielding his Katana plus the DayStar sword.

I currently have the rescued Imoen with us. I will prolly drop her at some point, since she doesn't add any value to the team in my mind, but I will feel guilty about it and miss her.


Re the other NPCs:

- Anomen: got a better personality after knighthood, but I like Valygar better.
- Yoshimo: don't need him if you have Jan for thieving.
- Aerie: aer-head , and weak besides. Everyone in my party can cast spells.
- Nalia: didn't need her after I got the stronghold, but I miss her sometimes.
- Viconia: mean and powerful, but caused alignment and reputation problems.
I miss that evil bitch sometimes, tho...
- Keldorn: good guy, but felt guilty keeping him from his family.
- Cernd: useful in the TradeMeet quest, but too limited a character overall.
- Haer'Dalis: brings nothing useful to my team except an attitude.
- Edwin: got sick of this whining effete bastard in the original BG.
- Korgan: see above comment with Mazzy.

Your party is pretty good with the members you mentioned, though it lacks a tough melee (single-classed) fighter for the dirtiest jobs. I'd add Minsc to the team, but if you want to keep only 4 members for more XP, don't forget to give Mazzy some strenght enhancing item, and work on improving her proficiencies on some better weapons than short swords. This will make her a tank.

I have Mazzy with the bracer of hill giant str. (adventure mart.) boots of the cheeta (speed inhancing) and duel weilding short swords. She has 5 proficency slots into short swords, and powerfull!

To Maximize XP you say but you should be able to let 6 characters reach the cap before going to the elven city

Depends if he has ToB or not... with 6 ppl your unlikly to meet the ToB exp cap even if you do 90%+ of the quests

That's just my opinion, I found very few good short swords (the most powerful being Cutthroat +4 IIRC).

Ok,um...here is my team

Me....Paladin level 7....LOL i just started bare with me
Imoen....Level ?thief/Level ? mage
Minsc....Level ?ranger
Jaheira...level ?fighter/Druid

Thats it for now umm...what would be a good addition to my team i hae 3 people that i can get..Im thinking Ditch Jaheira for Arie(spelled wrong) and get Anomen and Edwin which i cant figure out how to get...I dont know where he is or how to get him....if you have info on Edwin..please post here
I know hes in the Shadow Thief Guild Level 3 but i dont know how to get to level 3!!!!!PLEASE help me

Well, I'm on Chapter 5 in the UnderDark, and my main character is a Level 17 Mage/Fighter and has 2.7 million xp, so he's already almost at the cap.
