Is a fighter and Paladin able to use a Katana without taking an extra feat (is that exotic weapons?)
Also is there much difference between using a long sword and Katana?
Are there better Long Swords or Katana’s in the OC, SoU and HotU?

Many thanks

The Fighter and Paladin do not start with the exotic weapons feat, so to use a Katana they would have to take it.

The Katana has a base damage of 1d10 as opposed to the Longsword's 1d8, so technically the Katana is 'better' in that regard.

It doesn't matter as much in HotU since you can echant any weapon you want at the smith; but for the original campaign and SoU, from what I remember there are more longswords.

Actually, you can configure a package, and take the exotic weapon feat with either/any class. However, a gladiator package does start with the exotic weapon feat, with no configuration. To configure a package, on the page where you are asked to select one, there is a button on the bottom of the page that says configure package. It allows you to choose one feat for sure, and possibly two if your human, but I have not tried that, so do not know.

I meant as a default class feat. They would still have to use a selection either way.

Hmmmm, I guess it might be better to take Long Sword and use that feat for something else.

Well, if you play a Fighter you get so many combat feats anyway, so you go for katana if that's your style.

I am going to go a few levels of fighter and Paladin, then Champ of T.

About how far in SoU is it till you find a 'good' or better than standard Longsword?

It is a default class feat for the gladiator package.

What is the difference between a Bastard Sword and a Katana besides the grafic differences? I can't see any!

Well, I think the only difference I can find is that the Bastard Sword is a Large weapon, whereas the Katana is a Medium Weapon.
Therefore, Bastard Sword is a better weapon for knocking down opponents.
