As some people might have seen in other threads, I've mentioned that I've just finished the first 3 books on Elminster. I'm just wondering what your thoughts on Elminster (as a character) are, and your pro's and con's are about him.

and sorry if im repeating a past topic

These were my first books that I've read that take place in the FR. So I might be a bit naive as a say this but I'll give my thoughts anyway. Elminster seems to me to be a pretty cool character so far, a bit overpowered at times but nevertheless, an OK character.

There is quite a lot of talk about Elmister in this link. You should take a look at it.

Mal there are a lot of people here who dislike El, Personally I like the way Greenwood setr him up. But then I also like the whole "Chosen" thing. I don't make the moral or artistic quibles others do when talking about Greenwood, I just decide if I like the book I read I like most of his stuff, wether it was the "Ecology" series of articles in Dragon Magazine or the Forgotten Realms Novels.

Lol, I'll never forget when at the beginning of "The Making of a Mage", El swears to kill all evil wizards blah blah. Then at the end he tells his theif buddy (forget his name), "magic is what i do".

Soooo Malavon, you never grew up and learned that you were wrong about something as a kid? I can think of many instances where I grew up thinking one thing, only to find out that I was completely wrong.
It is the ability to accept these kinds of facts and to work with reality that allows us to grow as people, I thought that Making of a Mage illustrated life quite well.
