Hi

Just a bit worried about Annoying or losing members of my party if i don't help them quickly enough etc.

I am thinking of exploring all the different areas of the City before venturing out in to the wilds.
This could obviously take a while

Is this ok or inadvisable?

Thanx

You have nothing to worry about.
1. If party members get killed, remember that the Temples are there for a reason. [EDIT: I seem to have misunderstood you on this one. Refer to karlosovic. ]
2. Exploring Athkatla first can be smart, and I see no reason why you shouldn't do so.

generally you have plenty of time to help everyone. the trick is, if they start bugging you about doing their quest, get onto it right away cause you're running out of time. off-hand I would say it's probably korgan or nalia who are the most impatient, but thats a guess. just start on their quests when you get them and you should have time. also an exploit I *think* is foolproof... once you actually start doing an NPC sub-quest (eg nalia's keep), you can then leave and do something else. so if you have 2 NPC's urgently requiring something done, go start one quest and then leave and start the other one (obviously sometimes you can't do this because some quests take you somewhere you can only leave by completing the quest).

on another note, helping nalia is an easy quest for a beginner party, so is the Umar hills quest. whereas some of the city quests are very hard, and should be left for later in the game when your party has more exp

I find that doing some of the city quests before leaving town very helpful in powering up a bit before getting to far into the game. I always do the copper cornet quests (plus sewers and slave holding area), the bridge murders and the quest where the man is buried alive in the cematary.
I also do the circus quest (very easy and nice and short). I find that these are the quest I complete early on with ease. Some of the Temple distict quests are quite hard, avoid them till later.

I then do Nalia's quest to get a certain weapon and also the xp, after that I seem to be able to pick and choose.

Hope that helps
