No Access to Town Hall in Valeia

Okay, get this...I have NO access to the Town Hall and what I think is the Wizard guild in the first town, Valeia! What's up with this??? I've been reading a walkthrough to see what they say, and they tell me to go get quests in the Town Hall, but I don't have access to it!! What is wrong with this game??

I've erased and reinstalled the entire game to no avail. I've completed the crypt completely, which has a quest in which you need to return to Town Hall to be rewarded for it...but there NO TOWN HALL ACCESS!! Why must the God's taunt me so?? I installed the patch...NOTHING! Did absolutely nothing for this bug. Please let me know if you know what's wrong, how to fix it or if you have a similar experience. Thanks.

Take a look at the teck tips...
Look under 6.1. Can't enter town building...

First off, welcome to the boards, BrianC! May you find excitement, adventure, and wealth throughout the Gael Serran.

Now... hmmm... I'll bet you a round of drinks at the Boogre Bar that you're running under Win2000 or WinXP, and haven't done the virtualdub thing yet. Full details are in the Tech Tips thread, and involve decompressing the town AVI files so you can view them.

If that's *not* the case, then post back with more info and we'll see what we can do...
