Well, you did say "anyone" and I hope that includes newbies. In my oh so very humble and self deprecating opinion, I would meekly suggest that you stay with what you currently have. I understand that you've been posting under your current nomme de kitty for quite some time and although it's new to me, its "old hat" to you. I also understand that my feeble blathering is much like the grunts and groans uttered by a toddler upon discovering that peanut butter can be jammed into one's belly button. If you've taken the time to read this, then please know that I am one who will not suggest a new name because I like the current one just fine.

Hmmmm...I, personally wouldn't change your given name. Is there any OTHER way to be legally recognized as Silver Cheetah WITHOUT legally dropping your original name? I like Amanda Kasafir (it sound so EXOTIC ). If there's no other way and you aren't happy just submitting your work under the name you've chosen, then I second Garnet's suggestion...add SC to the end of your name.

Well, I think I'd rather be called Cheetah!! Silver is good though. It's one of the main colours I use in my paintings, together with pale blues, lilacs, lavenders.... sort of a very ethereal, fairy like effect. I also incorporate silvery coloured metals in my paintings.

Course you can suggest, my duck! Don't worry, I'm not going to change Silver Cheetah, - was more thinking of dropping the Amanda Kasafir, which is my real name. Although maybe potential employers of freelance writer will not be too impressed with a Ms. Cheetah? Personally, I think we're too hide bound in our conventions, and it'll do em good to be confronted with something new. (How about a green nose and sticking up blue hair, just to ram the point home....)

Tee hee. But I'm still thinking about it....... seriously......

Good points, DM, deed poll maybe taking it a bit far. Maybe as I meet new people, I'll introduce myself as Cheetah..... sign my paintings with it - I'll do my next exhibition as Silver Cheetah! Yes, that should do it.... and people who know me as Mandy, well, maybe I'll introduce it to them gradually. Hard for people to make that kind of a transition, I think.........

You should be successful in just making an artist transition. When I start to publish, I (at this time) am tending towards a nomme de plume (sp?)

Breanna Rowan

What do you think? And as for your friends getting used to it, well what do we call him now: Gordon or Sting?
