Honestly - I don't see any speed enhancement over ad-aware 5.62. However I am tired of "fake" installing an update to get the reflist.ref file for my old and comfortable version, so I decided to cope with the bubblegum look.
I takes too long to run as anything but a background process anyhow.

Its not really supposed to be a big speed enhancement. It just updates the scans etc. so that more spware is found. And dont think if you keep your old versions up-to-date that that is enough. If you keep Spybot 1.2 you will noticed there is no more updates atm, this is because of 1.3. So get updating guys. (good post btw Wellard)

I've had a very bad grasp of time lately, loads of work and junk, so I'm not sure if i need to re-download or not. Mine says Ad-aware 6.0, is that new enough?

In AdAware, click 'Details'. Current internal build is 242, if you have anything less than that, you need to download it.

My version shows as 6.181. Does that mean version 6, internal build 181?

If so, there's another upgrade in my future...

Ok, the "internal build" seems to be indicative of the reference file, rather than the program build. So, version 6 is still current.
Bungleau, yes it would mean version 6 build 181. Click 'Check for Updates now' - you're almost 50 versions behind.
EDIT: That is unless you're looking at the installed core application. You can also look at the version number for the reference file, which actually gives you the date is was released. Latest should be 01R317 12.06.2004 , which is internal build 249.

LOL mines 248.

Well in couple of months anyway they will probably upgrade it. I am currently downloading the updated ref file. Although Spybot has been the one getting spyware as of late.
