Backstabbing Query

I'm quite confused on two matters with backstabbing... I am certain that I have read on this forum that people have used Staves to backstab, but I'm also sure that it is impossible to backstab with two-handed weapons. Am I missing something? A mod or some such?

Also, I'm curious as to why you cannot backtsab with the Scarlet Ninja-to+3, I don't see any logical reason why you can't, anyone care to expand on these two points?

Ah, thanks for that, ZFR. That clears up the reason why the Scarlet Ninja-To can't backstab either - just because it's only supposed to be usable by monks...hmm, I might try and edit the sword so I can backstab with it, because there is no good reason as to why it can't, really.

well one might consider the rules to be a good reason it can't be- specifically the one that says backstabs may be made with any melee weapon that would be useable by a single class thief (without UAI)...
