It says in the manual that you can import a character when you load a saved game so that you can switch between different characters. I can't figure out how to do it though! It is possible, or did they just screw up in the manual?

I dunno about the manual, butI managed to do this a while back by loading my saved game as a multiplayer game, then selecting the character like normal and saving, then reloading the game as a single player game. This is obvious, but you can also start chapters with a different charcter as well.

Yes, it's multi-player games only. And they did screw up the manual, even though they were somewhat right on this count.
