I usually use the search feature but I can't find the answer to this one.
I want to dismiss RFS-81 so I can recruit someone else. How do you dismiss someone?

There's a little "door" on the left of the RPC's portrait, with a little curvy "arrow" in it, you click on that.

Unlike most NPC's, RFS will stay exactly wherever you dismiss him. So if you want to take him back later, remember that spot.
Other NPC's usually go back to wherever you took them on, though some (like Tantris and Vi) have occasionally vanished, never to be seen again. |

And Trantis doesn't return to where you got him first; he returns to upper Martens Bluff.

Thanks everyone for the info. My second question would have been, where does RFS-81 go when dismissied. but now I don't have to ask

ummm I tried to release RFS-81 near Arnika but I don't see any thing on the left of his pic except to change weapons. Am I missing something here or just blind from playing so long.

in the portrait, not the body. Right next to his face.

You need to right-click him first, to get in 'inventory mode' (or however it is called). You can only dismiss from there, not from the main screen.

btw, make sure you're patched.
without it, some rpc's *thinks of Vi going into the statue of phoonzang* end up in some pretty bizarre places on dismissal. V***V
