I am sure alot of the left leaning people here at IW will be pretty pissed off at me posting this (and automaticlly assume I believe all Liberals think this way of course), but I am rather disguisted as this Kamiya guy. Gary Kamiya, executive editor of the left-leaning Internet journal Salon (www.salon.com), confirms what some Americans have only suspected: Liberals were cheering for the enemy in Iraq. "I have a confession: I have at times, as the war has unfolded, secretly wished for things to go wrong," Mr. Kamiya wrote last week. "Wished for the Iraqis to be more nationalistic, to resist longer. Wished for the Arab world to rise up in rage. Wished for all the things we feared would happen. I'm not alone: A number of serious, intelligent, morally sensitive people who oppose the war have told me they have had identical feelings." More casualties would have been a preferred alternative to the "larger moral negative" of a victory that boosted President Bush's chances for re-election, he said. "Many antiwar commentators have argued that once the war started, even those who oppose it must now wish for the quickest, least-bloody victory followed by the maximum possible liberation of the Iraqi people," he wrote. "But there is one argument against this: What if you are convinced that an easy victory will ultimately result in a larger moral negative — four more years of Bush, for example, with attendant disastrous policies, or the betrayal of the Palestinians to eternal occupation, or more imperialist meddling in the Middle East or elsewhere? "Wishing for things to go wrong is the logical corollary of the postulate that the better things go for Bush, the worse they will go for America and the rest of the world."

Sad but true
I believe it with all my heart. I would not brush everyone with that paint. I have no doubt though some wished for a blood bath if only so they could say "see I told you so". Yep |

How ironic to be opposed to a war but secretly to hope for a blood bath. Am I the only one who finds this to be rampant hypocrisy?

You know, he said in the artical 'I'm not alone: A number of serious, intelligent, morally sensitive people who oppose the war have told me they have had identical feelings.'
I wonder whom he meant by this. I have some ideas *cough* Tom Daschle *cough*, but I wonder who else.

Another case of the few being showcased in spite of the many. I find it hard to imagine that any large group of " Serious, Intelligent, and moraly sensitive" adults that opposed the war would want a bloodier war for political gains Either this guy was just having a fantasy or is a fantasy. Whichever it is, the cruel compassionless logic exhibited is certainly of the minority, the dark fringe where extremism and hypocrisy dwell. If you take the slant out of the article that is what it is all about.

I rather liked this post actually, as the "Traitor List" as it is so called is very reminiscant of the very same Traitor List that was active during the post WWII era. So I feel it did have some relevance to this topic. If Lil Lil was offended in any many by it, then I'm sure that she'd speak up to me. It's not the site, but the mentality that's scary. If you have a problem with me then I suggest you take it up with me via PM.

I think that technically a traitor has to "aid and abet" the enemy----not just hope that they win. What it reminds me of is the Viet Nam war----an unpopular war that our soldiers suffered for. They were often so disrespected when they returned home. I think if you don't support the was, you can still support the troops.
