Thanks Stratos...you gave me my next question for ponder! An Islamic Martyr, and an American Hero (assuming he died in battle), do they both mean the same thing but to differant cultures?. Whats the differance? Im sure this one will be very one sided as I dont think we have any Islamic folks on here to give us there opinion.

Well I guess they are both heros to their own culture, it is all a matter of perspective. There are no true "Good guys" and "Bad guys" in the world, only people with different beliefs and cultures, each fighting for what they believe is right.

i bleive there pretty much the same, exept a martyr usually inspires poeple for a specific cause whereas a hero is just someone who did a good deed. ofcoarse, knowing me, i'm wrong.

IIRC a martyr dies for his/her faith, or more generally nowadays a cause. Hero is a more open phrase. In media it's most often a person who excels in courage, not necessarily dying in his/her duty.

Well put. Like firemen, they are heroes. They take many risks. Or the policeman in the street, who's on patrol. (not the ones who are only out there to give people parking tickets)
