ive just sort of left this one on hold while i do watchers keep but whats the crack with vangothe (lich in the caves at the desert town) first time i let him kill the dodgy bloke but then i felt bad and tried a reload so i could fight him and he whooped my ass.
is he worth taking down?
if you kill him do you get the key to get in the tomb the is up the ladder?

Cant remember exactly what you get for killing him, but it is a _very_ tough fight with all those skeleton archers on those ledges - my cleric (aerie) managed ~100 kills before going down, but in the end is was the only survivor of my party. Fireballs are also useful. But the only thing that swung that fight for me was regenerating and the boots of avoidance. and Daystar of course.

well there is a good number of xp in the fight, and a item for an evil party, but as you now know it is one tough fight.

No you can get the key later on from an old "friend"

If you're good make sure you get the daughter's soul back before you kill the lich - otherwise she'll die.

What does the soal do for an evil party again?
Cant seem to know, only played neutral or good so far.
Workinh on an evil sorc and a good cavalier atm, both solo. Sorc is almoast too good

you get a soul-stone that works just like an Ioun stone - that is a mage can wear it in his helmet-slot. But it can only be used by evil-aligned characters

In order to make the battle a piece of cake lay several spike traps around him before you start the fight. Then it's just a matter of taking out his summoned helpers. The same tactic works for the very last boss.

Saemon provides an alternate way into balthazars keep, but if you were hacked off at saemon like I was, and imprisioned him in limbo for eternity, youll need to find another way in. The key to the crypt in the cave is provided elsewhere in the town. Ask around....the inn is always a good spot to find info.
