Assassin Problem AGAIN

OK

so i did the stout mines, and killed the fellow i had to kill.
When i go back, i get told to go to some hideout, possibly the boogre lair.

What have i done wrong?

I said job many a time, and get told there are no more jobs available.

You asked for the wrong thing. You are not after another job you want your reward don´t you?

Ask for that and you will get a little something. [img]smile.gif[/img]

That's weird. You need not tell Scanthrill anything, just wait. Scanthrill himself will ask whether you have done the "job". Answer "yes" and you get the dagger.
Perhaps, you were little hasty with your keyboard. Try again: be silent and let Scanthrill drivel. He will talk about "payment" first and then he should ask about your proceedings with the "job". The question about completion of the job should invoke a list with "yes", "no", etc. Select your answer from the list.

I know that this topic has been done to death, but I got to the same problem. I didn't ask about the job then I went and did both anyway. When I came back Scanthril kept saying "I don't have anymore jobs for you right now." I tried all the usual stuff, but in the end I thought I must have to "job" him to get it. Obviously a mistake, but that was eons ago. I saw that someone can patch in a blade. Does anyone know how to do this?

You do need to have gotten the job to assassinate Rathskalion before you kill him. Otherwise, you lose the chance.

If you use the search feature on the board, you can find Wyvern's post on hex editing (search for ... heck, here's the link. Instructions for hacking an assassin's dagger are buried in there.

(It might be better to just start a new thread on these topics than to bump up threads that are several months old. Not a big deal but can be a bit misleading if folks don't pay attention to the post dates.

New development! This problem may be related to undertaking both the Grundel quest and the Raskalion quest at the same time. I have just run into the similar problem, and it seems to me, this is the result of Scanthril's acknowledging only the Grundel quest expecting for the character to then undertake the Raskalion quest. When one tries to do so, the game has already recorded the death of Raskalion. And one is then caught in a limbo unable to either undertake the quest again nor get the dagger.

It is only sometimes this occurs, however. I have received the dagger five times when using the method of undertaking both quests simultaneously - a method for which I have strongly advocated. But now it seems it may be buggy, so I will not suggest this approach anymore.

By the way, the word to ask for is not "reward" but "payment". [img]smile.gif[/img]
