OK I know with NWN2 just out & Christmas just around the corner
most of you are a little tight for cash But, A really Great game
was given to me on thursday night at our Thanksgiving Dinner.
One of my better friends is a or rather ownes a Computer Game
store close to Washington D.C. and monday Gothic 3 hit the shelves
and he brought me a copy as an early Christmas Present.

The Game "GOTHIC 3" is a single person RPG made by JoWood, ASPYR,
and Piranha Bytes. Comes on a single DVD so DVD is required to play

http://www.gothic3.com/

The basic story Background:
Orcs have enslaved most the human race. You are one of the fortunate,
still free to roam the Myrtana. Liberty affords you the option to stay
true to the Throne of the Deposed Human King, Serve the Orcish usurpres,
or carve your own Mysterous path. Every Decision made will have an impact
on the fate of humanity and the Balance of power. The choice is yours,
but the struggle is one for all living in the shadow of the ORCs.

This is a totally open ended RPG with a giant world Fantastic Graphics
and the best way I have found to describe it is: IF you like playing
Oblivion well this is better no load times or screens. you just keep
going like Oblivilon on steriods and its totally up to you what happens.

You start the game as a man that comes with a group of warriors from
across the sea as a nameless Hero who has already slew a Dragon and
committed innumerable heroic deeds on Khorinis so he (you) arrive on
Myrtana very strong and experience but the long sea journey has left
him somewhat out of shape. However, your Specialization and which
abilities you will develop to perfection, Indeed to legendary status
is entirely up to you.
Killing Monsters and fulfilling missions will give you experience points.
Once you have achieved a certain number of experence points you gain a
level. (no Cap) with each new level your Hero will be granted 10 learning
points which can be invested with trainers. These trainers can either
teach you new skills or help increase you attributes in the skills you
already have.back to the start, as you get off you boat you run to the aid
of people in this small village being attacked by Orc Berserkers and from
the very second the game starts your in combat swinging your Orc slayer
Sword and at the same time the game is teaching you the moves of the game.
1)your a warrior Hero but you can use simple magic and you can pick simple
locks you learn how to Hunt, how to make weapons by learing Black Smithing
after a fight your weapons need repair or you want them upgraded you can pay
someone or do it yourself. Make weapons use the forge and hammer a sword out
of high grade ore or magic Iron ore if you find a deposit in a cave you use a
pick axe to hack away at the wall and collect your own ore. these skills have
to be learned from trainers. The trainers are everybody you meet. Everybody
in the game has a profession and they need money and are all willing to teach
you their trade at least the humans will teach you, the Orcs just pick on you
until you bash them around and knock them out then they stop messing with you
but they still are weary of you and don't trust you because your a human dog
to them but a tough one. At any time you can challenge anyone to a fight in
the arenas Human or Orc. This is one way to gain their respect. If you kill
an Orc and other Orcs see or catch you they consider this High crime and you
are Tried and sold into slavery or hacked into lizard food to be used for
bateing the T-Rex or the other Meat eaters in the game. As I said this is
one hell of a game with Hundreds of caves to explore as well as towns,
cities, old ruins and really Old and forgotton civilations.
This kind of extreme open-ended design isn't a bad thing. In fact, it's
an enjoyable alternative to being forced along a pre-determined direction.
The game world itself is enormous, and there are tons of ways to occupy
yourself. In addition to your magic spells, you can also invest in pumping
up alchemy, thieving, smithing, and hunting skills. As those increase,
higher levels of proficiency with swords, axes, crossbows, bargaining,
staves, and resistances are accessible. Eventually characters can dual
wield, extract teeth, claws and horns from animals, and specialize in
forms of magic like water, fire, and dark, and even take on the
shape-shifting abilities of a druid.

I spend as much time playing Gothis 3 as I have spent Playing NWN2 the
best thing about Gothic is they finished fixing the game before they
shipped it to the stores, there are a few minor patches but nothing critical.

OK here are the requirements both Minimun and Recomended:

This is the OPEN Forum Hive there is no Gothic 3
forum and acording to the forum rules the general
forum is for everything including new games we find
and wish to share with others.
The only thing that doesent belong here is you
playing the part of a Moderator if its in the
wrong place they will move it but I looked for
a Gothic 3 anouncement in the whole forum and
then posted here for everbody to see.

No, if I was a moderator, I would have moved it into one of the various games forums.

I have been told of in the past as have many others for posting game advertisements in GD and it was supposed to be more of a warning.

There's at least two threads on this game on the first page of "misc games". http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...;f=22;t=001941 is the most recent one.

What I'd like to know is have they fixed all the many bugs yet. Gamespy gives Gothic 3 low scores because of poor gaming control implementation and, of course, the bugs and more bugs.

So, Crimsonblade, how are the gaming controls? And have they addressed the "bugs" with patches?

IMO, they have fixed some of the bugs but even on a really good computer, don't expect a high framerate and a smooth ride if you want all the eyecandy.

It is still "choppy" here and there since they don't use loading up modules but have a continues load. However, I think that they would have gained some in making it in modules instead.

The game is so so and I think that this one is a decent game and really good if you are deep into the Gothic games.
