I've had a Pladin/Cleric of Illmater before.
Forgot the stats. Had high wisdom due to a wisdom enhancing ring. At the end of the game he was more powerful Cleric wise than my Cleric(Major)/Druid(Minor).
His levels were 4 Paladin/X Cleric.
As you can imagine he wielded longswords and shields.

Well my party of 1 lvl 15 pure/druid and I have another game going on with 1 character Sacred_Exile lvl 18 paladin/rough lvl 2 I know i'm stupid as well for mixing when I said not to sorry well have fun!

If your question is about weapon restrictions, 3rd Edition(And thus, this game) has no restrictions on who can use what weapon. If you have the correct feat a cleric could use a greatsword effectively.
Fighters/Paladins/Barbarians start the game with proficiency in all weapons except Bastard Sword.
If you add a level of any one of these classes you gain proficiency in all weapons except Bastard Sword.

Nanobyte the odd # stats make no difference (except for some feats) so you may want to take 1 point off and add it to another skill.

My 4 person party is made up of a fighter4/barbarian, a cleric (normally lathander), a wizard and a sorcerer. I like magic. You can never get enough bombardment!
