Entertainment Tonight has the latest...
Prolific novelist and "ER" creator Michael Crichton has passed away. He was 66.

Perhaps best known for being the author of Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World, which were turned into a hugely successful movie franchise, his numerous books have sold over 150 million copies worldwide.

In what his family calls an unexpected death, it was revealed that he was waging a private battle against cancer.

Unexpected? I guess so!

Wth, wasn't expecting that. I hoped he'd see Jurassic Park 4 come to the screens. What bad news.

I liked his books.

Not often I post in RIP threads, but this guy was a great author.

Shame all the films ruined his books, bar the first Jurrassic Park. (in that series). Congo was Ok, and I guess ER turned out popular.

Books > Films though :p

I have read several of his books (none of the jurassic type ones though) and really enjoyed them. I am shocked because reading this on ironworks was the first I have heard of his death.

I read about it earlier yesterday, on Terry Brooks website.

I have not read any of his books, but it seems like it might be enjoyable to do so.

Nobody lives forever of course, but he obviously had a positive impact on many people. That's what counts.
